New iPhone 8 Design: Could This Be Our Best Look At Apple's Intriguing Design

In all the talk of the features and hardware that Apple is looking to put into this year’s presumptively titled iPhone 8, the implicit question has always been what it would look like. As the more advanced hardware ideas are stripped away leak by leak, the technology that is expected to ship inside 2017’s flagship smartphone has become more pedestrian and in line with the current trends from Android manufacturers.

Add all of that together, along with Apple’s current reticence to change the major design cues as it continues the slow iteration of the iPhone hardware, and  you realize the spectacular potential designs of curved glass (or even dreams of a transparent device for augmented reality) do not match the known quantities of the latest iPhone. What is more likely is a device that looks something like this:

Taking on board what we currently expect to be featured in the iPhone 8, digital artist Oscar Luna Martinez has come up with his clear vision of the handset. He’s also showcased it alongside the 2007 iPhone 2G to not only emphasize the ten-year anniversary of the smartphone but also to show Apple’s careful progression of style.

Martinez highlights the significant reduction in the bezel sizes, as well as the edge-to-edge nature of the display and the vivid nature of the OLED screen that increases the brightness and colors available over the current range of LCD screens on the iPhone

And to finish, it’s unlikely that Apple will return to the Clownfish wallpaper, but it is a nice touch to show the ’decade in the making’ nature of 2017’s new iPhone
